Around the southern part of the lake, near Peschiera, a number of theme parks have developed, including Gardaland, Movieland Park, and Aqua Paradise Park, all ideal for families. The southern part of the lake is more Mediterranean, whilst the north is more mountainous, however wherever you stay, Lake Garda is very family friendly.
The popularity of the Lake means there are a number of accommodation options, including camping - Eurocamp is very popular - and hotels. The hotels tend to be unique, family run Italian hotels, with the usual big chains few and far between. There are also many villas and residences - a complex of self catering apartments, often with shared swimming pools or tennis courts - ideal for independent travellers. Camping is more popular to the south of Lake Garda, often with very good facilities on site.
Lake Garda is a fantastic location for a holiday, whether you enjoy sports or not, with a family or without. With a selection of interesting towns and historical sites, not to mention the amazing scenery both in front of you and behind, Lake Garda really does have something for everyone.
