The Hotel Monastero on Lake Garda is a luxurious four star Spa Hotel.
The Hotel features a variety of wellness treatments:
The cold path
Saunas and turkish baths
Massage - Slimming, Shiatsu and Tiunia
I had heard a lot about the cold path and being the sort of person that enjoys new experiences (And thinking of a warming cup of the excellent Italian coffee afterwards) I took the plunge.
The cold path comprises three stages:
The Kniepp path - Special stones act on your acupressure points in your feet and help to stimulate your circulation and nervous system.
The icy fountain - A self-administered ice rub similar to the Scandinavian practice of rubbing your body in snow before a hot spring bath. The ice gave me an all over feeling of tightening as my skin drew taut.
The emotional showers - A carefully developed blend of aromas and a soothing colour scheme combine to help bring a wonderful sensation of calm and relaxation. After the ivy fountain it was a very enjoyable experience and the hot water brought a real glow to my skin which felt wonderfully toned.
